It is now more than thirty-five years since we returned Kingswear Castle to service on the Rivers Medway and Thames. She is now approaching the point where once again she will be in need of another major rebuild to secure her future for the next thirty-five years. The cost of this is estimated to be approaching £1.5 million.
We already have funding of almost £500k towards this but need your help to raise the rest to help keep this historic steamship sailing into the future.
Your support will make a massive difference. It will enable us to keep Kingswear Castle in service as the last British paddle steamer of her type, providing pleasure and delight to present and future generations.

Kingswear Castle, the last remaining operational coal fired paddle steamer in the UK, is owned by the Paddle Steamer Kingswear Castle Trust, a registered charity which takes care of the ship in association with the Paddle Steamer Preservation Society.
The Trust, originally called Paddle Steamer Navigation Ltd. was established in 1963 with the intention of buying the paddle steamer Alumchine. Sadly that deal fell through but in 1967 Kingswear Castle was purchased for £600 with a loan from the Paddle Steamer Preservation Society. Restoration, primarily by volunteers working at weekends at Chatham Dockyard in Kent, took many years and it was not until 1984 that she attained the necessary certificates to carry passengers once again.
Donations can be one-off or monthly and are processed by PayPal. You do not need a PayPal account to donate using a debit or credit card.
