8th September 2026:
KC to Totnes

On Tuesday 8th September KC ran a special trip from Dartmouth at 3.30pm for Totnes 5.15pm with passengers mostly for the round trip back to Dartmouth but with some getting off at Totnes and with a handful joining at Totnes for the single run back to Dartmouth.

The day started with rain but by the afternoon the sun had put its hat on and, whilst it was quite breezy, it turned out to be a lovely afternoon. It was good to greet aboard a number of long standing supporters of KC from the Medway years as well those from closer to her home in Devon.

Here are a few pictures taken on the run back from Totnes to Dartmouth.

A big thank you to all who supported this cruise. All operating costs were paid for by the Dartmouth Steam Railway and River Boat Company so a big thank you to them too. This means that all of the £5.5K ticket money goes straight into KC’s Rebuild Appeal.

The Crew L to R: Tony Chapman, Rich Swinglehurst, Ryan Ensor and Ben Toleman

A big thank you also to all the crew as well. Despite it almost being the end of the season KC was looking in immaculate form which is a great tribute to the hard work, love and care which they lavish on the ship to keep her in sparkling form.

Kingswear Castle returned to service in 2026 after the second part of a major rebuild which is designed to set her up for the next 25 years. The Paddle Steamer Kingswear Castle Trust is now fund raising for future rebuilds. You can read more and how you can possibly help here.
