As the scale of the necessary work for Phase 1 of KC’s rebuild has unfolded as the aft part of the ship has been dismantled her return to service this summer has been pushed back and is now expected to be late June.
She will then be rostered to run harbour cruises from Dartmouth throughout the summer every day except Fridays.
The rebuild is set to extend over three winters with completion expected to coincide with KC’s centenary season in 2024. It is anticipated that the whole project will cost in excess of one million pounds.
Kingswear Castle returned to service in 2023 after the first part of a major rebuild which is designed to set her up for the next 25 years running on the River Dart. The Paddle Steamer Kingswear Castle Trust is now fund raising for the second phase of the rebuild. You can read more about the rebuilds and how you can help if you can here.
