To mark 60 years of Ships Monthly, the October edition includes a special feature looking back over 60 years of paddle steamers, in Britain and elsewhere, since 1966.
Like all printed media, Ships Monthly now has to compete in an increasingly digital world. So, if maritime magazines matter to you, do please support it by buying a copy. Specialist magazines only survive if people continue to buy and read them. We have already seen the loss of the long-running Sea Breezes, whose final edition appeared in December 2025.
Ships Monthly can be bought from many newsagents and other outlets, and the October issue is also available online.

And put a date in your diary for November. The next edition includes an article on the Dresden paddle steamers, as well as the regular Preservation News column, bringing you up to date with what has been happening to eight historic ships around the world, including vessels in Australia, San Diego, Brooklyn, Switzerland and the UK, together with all the usual columns, articles, features and photographs
Kingswear Castle returned to service in 2026 after the second part of a major rebuild which is designed to set her up for the next 25 years. The Paddle Steamer Kingswear Castle Trust is now fund raising for future rebuilds. You can read more and how you can possibly help here.
